Some people find the sea. Rob Pels was born into it.
Having grown up with a tiller in his hand from the age of four, Rob has never seen sailing as just recreation — it has been his way of life. Now aged 61, with over five decades on the water and 25 years' experience operating private charters along the Algarve coastline, Rob brings a depth of experience to every charter.
A life built on the water
Rob's saltwater career spans disciplines that few skippers can match. He was the first certified kitesurfing instructor in the Lagos area, helping to introduce the sport to the Algarve long before it enjoyed the popularity it has today. He, for many years, was a wakeboard and wakesurf instructor — a background that reflects not just technical skill, but a genuine love for sharing the ocean with people of all experience levels.
Today, Rob channels all of that passion into Ocean Breeze, the 46-foot Grand Soleil that departs from Marina de Lagos on every Quadrant Algarve charter. Whether you are an experienced sailor wanting to push the boat hard in open water or a complete beginner stepping aboard for the first time, Rob's approach is the same: make it real, make it safe and make it unforgettable.
